Job Description

The purpose of Data Scientist is to discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data, and to help in making smarter decisions and delivering even better products. Data Science aims to be an important differentiator in the product offering.

 

Who will you be working with?

  • You will be part of our Business Intelligence team, composed by 4 passionate BI professionals located in Munich.
  • You will be working together with Analysts and Developers.
  • Your main contact outside of the department will be Operations and Sales.
  • You will be the GoTo-Guy (or -Girl) for advanced analytical questions concerning BI.

 

What will be your main responsibilities?

  • Work with large and complex data sets. Solve difficult, analysis problems by applying analytical methods.
  • Ability to query and explore data and perform research.
  • Collaborate with sales, product management and engineering departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions
  • Perform optimization methods to improve the quality of existing processes and products
  • Applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building prediction systems.
  • Research, develop and establish statistical learning models for data analysis
  • Keep up-to-date with latest technology trends
  • Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers
  • Optimize joint development efforts through appropriate database use and project desig

Qualifications

  • Hold an academic degree within a quantitative discipline business, economics, mathematics, statistics or a technical field or have a relevant working experience
  • Skills: great BI experience; Data visualization; Data analytics; Data mining; Data cleaning, Data munging; Data preparation for statistical modelling; Statistical modelling; The complete scope along the CRISP-DM phase model
  • Statistical Modelling esp. Regression models, decision trees, random forest, boosted trees, clustering methods (neuronal networks are only nice to have) and basic knowledge like PCA, statistical tests, data exploration and description etc.
  • Analytic problem solving: Curiosity; Creativity; Feeling for data driven business
  • Solid understand of scientific and statistical programming
  • Proficient in Tableau and Python (inkl. numpy, scikit-learn, pandas)
  • Good knowledge in SQL and Excel
  • Ability to distil complex technical topics so they’re easy to understand/digest
  • Data visualization and reporting techniques
  • Problem-solving mentality with attention to detail
  • Communication skills – ability to work well with technical and non-technical staff- and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to assess needs of business stakeholders and come up with the right solution.
  • Dynamic and intrinsically motivated personality who enjoys driving change, is keen on learning new things, thriving on challenges, and is creative.
