Job Description

Position Summary:
Bionera and its parent company, PRT Growing Services, are the leaders in establishing and managing large-scale woody biomass plantations to help solve energy, waste management and environmental issues. Reporting the Project Manager, Bionera’s Farm Equipment Operator is responsible for carrying out field preparation, planting, and weed control for Bionera’s willow plantations. This position requires experience operating various types of farm machinery and equipment in a variety of settings and terrain. This position is ideal for someone with a farming background.

The duration of the planting project is expected to last approximately 5 months. Potential to lead to a full-time seasonal position for the right person.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Five or more years operating farm equipment with a strong mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot, maintain and fix equipment

  • Experience handling, mixing and applying pesticides. Valid Pesticide Applicators License will be required

  • Experience leading and managing crop production teams

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of safety requirements and legislation as it related to farm equipment

  • Effective communication and reporting experience

  • Knowledge or experience with continuous process improvement in a production environment  will been seen as an asset

Location:
Westmoreland Paintearth Mine. Candidates will be required to meet (marshalling point) in Forestburg, AB, from which transportation will be provided to the mine.
