Job Description
1. Organization and Purpose
The Head Golf Professional is responsible for meeting all budget goals and manages all aspects of golf operations under the direction of the Director of Operations.
2. Scope and Impact
The Head Golf Professional is responsible for maintaining an optimal level of efficiency and service in the Golf Shop, Outside Guest Services, Driving Range and Cart Maintenance.
3. Essential Functions
Club Management
- Manages all Golf Shop, Outside Guest Services, Driving Range and Cart Maintenance staff.
- Oversees daily golf operations to provide excellent service to our customers while maximizing operational efficiency.
- Plans and administers our Junior Golf Program. Coordinates with Assistant Golf Professionals on scheduling and promotions.
- Plans and administers programs to promote our Tournament, Club Play and Tour Group play. Works with Restaurant Manager to create packages for tournaments and banquets.
Golf Shop Operations
- Acts as Administrator for the Golf Shop POS System.
- Insures the proper training of all personnel.
- Coordinates activities of the Golf Shop personnel to assist in merchandise sales, tagging and stocking.
- Works with Assistant Golf Professionals to ensure the tee sheet is managed properly.
Marketing
- Recommends and establishes ways to improve golf operations to improve profitability and efficiency of the Golf Operations Division.
- Collaborates with Tour Companies and various Hotels and Resorts in coming up with unique and innovative ways to promote the Club.
Merchandising
- Works with the Merchandiser to assure the Golf Shop is well stocked with the appropriate amount of inventory.
- Assists the Merchandiser in the scheduling and processing of the quarterly physical inventory.
Managerial
- Conducts initial employment interviews for hiring and recommends candidates for hiring to the Human Resources Manager.
- Recommends disciplinary action to be taken regarding personnel under golf operations to the Human Resources Manager.
- Conducts all probationary, annual and performance evaluations. Recommends wage increases for all golf operations personnel to the Director of Operations.
- Recommends and orders all golf operation related supplies.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications
Education/Experience Required
- College education or equivalent work experience of more than five years.
- Must have good standing PGA certification.
- Extensive golf operations, management and customer service background is required.
- Computer skills, efficient in Word and Excel programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Ability to operate a golf cart.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
Interpersonal Skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with subordinates, guests, vendors and co-managers.
- Must be able to plan, organize and establish procedures for efficient golf operations.
- Must be able to manage people effectively.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Required to work both indoors with A/C and outdoors.
- Requires some lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Requires some bending, stretching and pulling.
