Company Description

Panopta is looking to add a Technical Support Representative that fulfills a hybrid operations role that crosses the traditional boundaries and integrates the areas of customer support and sales engineering in technology-heavy environment.  The ideal candidate should have a working understanding of Internet technologies-firewalls, routing, server administration, etc. and worked with real-world Linux/Unix production environments.  Experience with Windows-based server operations is an additional benefit.

 

This role will be part of a fluid team that adapts based on changing needs from our customers and other team members so flexibility and a desire to wear multiple hats is a must. Beyond supporting our customers via email, chat and phone, responsibilities will include involvement in the ongoing operation and expansion of our global monitoring network, collaboration with our development team on planning and testing of additions to our service, and assisting our implementation team with custom integration needed for migrating large-scale customers to our system.  Beyond that, the position will offer ample opportunity to influence our ongoing product development.  This is a great opportunity for individuals who love technology and are looking to branch out and take on more responsibilities in a growing startup company.

Job Description

Required Skills:

  • Deep experience running  Linux or Unix in real-world production environments preferably at scale

  • Comfortable with basic Windows operation and administration

  • Light scripting experience with Python, Perl or Ruby and a toolbuilding mindset for developing the right scripts for client integration and automation

  • Internet technology (DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, etc.) experience

  • Accountability is critical to the role, candidates should have a team oriented attitude and have the ability properly prioritize operations, customer impacting issues and project tasks.

  • Ability to speak clearly & confidently about technology and internet concepts and interact with technical customers via email, phone and chat

  • Experience working with site monitoring tools-open source, commercial, or SaaS-based is a plus

Qualifications

Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of professional experience
