Park Avenue Center provides evidence based gender specific drug and alcohol treatment in south Minneapolis, Minnesota. First established in 1979, Park Avenue Center is a community-based program that proudly serves Minnesota’s less fortunate individuals in beautiful settings. Using evidence-based best practices, we have maintained a reputation for the highest quality of services at extremely low rates. Clients we serve typically struggle with multiple barriers including mental illness, homelessness, financial problems, legal issues, and an overall lack of emotional support. Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, our staff includes Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors, Licensed Psychologists, Registered Nurses, and a consulting Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who is qualified to prescribe medications. Our robust Mental Health Team allows us to help clients address their various needs and our EAGALA certified staff enables us to provide unique experiential therapy in a calming countryside location. Job Description

Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Driver provides transportation for clients and staff members. The Driver is responsible for all vehicle upkeep and maintenance. In addition, the Driver supports the Office Manager through clerical work such as monitored urine analysis, data entry, answering phones, making coffee, and light maintenance such as cleaning the grounds, emptying trash, shoveling snow, or salting for ice. Finally, the Driver assists in the prevention of bed bugs by coordinating the heat treatment of client’s belongings.

  1. Safe transportation of clients to and from treatment, court, activities, and/or other approved appointments in Park Avenue Center vehicles ranging from mini-van to 15 passenger vans.
  2. Transportation of staff to and from court, staff meetings, or other activities.
  3. Monitor clients providing urine for analysis.
  4. Coordinate the heat treatment of client’s belongings.
  5. Minimum of weekly vehicle upkeep including maintaining appropriate gas levels and washing exterior and interior of vehicles.
  6. Coordinate vehicle maintenance such as oil changes and any other maintenance required.
  7. Walk the property and parking lots daily picking up any trash.
  8. Any light clerical work determined by Office Manager to be necessary such as entering data entry, filing, or copying.
  9. Answers incoming phone calls transferring calls as needed ensuring they get to the staff as needed or appropriate voice mail.
  10. Appropriately greets and directs clients and visitors while helping clients with their belongings.
  11. Finds appropriate staff member to respond to client needs.
  12. Periodically make coffee and clean coffee area as required.

Qualifications

  1. Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  2. Must pass a DHS background check.
  3. Must be able to lift 15lbs regularly and 40lbs occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  4. At the time of hiring, must be free of chemical use problems for at least the one year immediately preceding and sign a statement attesting to that fact.
  5. Must have a working knowledge of issues regarding confidentiality.
  6. Must be able to maintain positive public relations with referring agencies and business community at large.
  7. Must possess good verbal skills and be capable of presenting positive professional image.

Additional Information

This is a part-time position with 20 - 25 hours a week.
