Job Description

Technical, Application, Network Support –

  • Maintains and upgrades desktop and laptop computers, PC

  • Troubleshoots computers, printers, networks, and other computer equipment.

  • Assist staff in solving hardware and software-related workstation, printer, access point, network and server problems.

  • Provides regular written and verbal communications to management, team and staff concerning the status of current project and planned / approved initiatives for the future.

  • Installs and configures software on desktops and laptops.

  • Tests and evaluates hardware and software solutions, including documented recommendations as appropriate.

  • Provides in-service training and support as scheduled or directed.

  • Works with users and vendor support services to diagnose and resolve problems with network hardware and software.

  • Set up and monitor sound and video equipment for use during group presentations.

Special Projects –

  • Performs other job-related duties as requested or assigned.

Staff Management and Development -

  • Support the development of a part-time IT Technician.
  • Manage the overall performance of a part-time IT Technician.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge, skills and ability to quickly and accurately troubleshoot, diagnose and fix problems, including some user education to help minimize recurring and similar problems wherever possible.

  • Knowledge, skills and ability to quickly diagnose and resolve problems with networked computer hardware and software.

  • Knowledge, skills and ability to identify technological applications for use by staff.

  • Knowledge, skills and ability to diagnose presentation needs. Set up and monitor presentation using audio and video equipment.

  • Familiarity with wide variety of applications and computer services including Sharepoint.

  • Excellent communication and highly-developed troubleshooting and diagnostic skills are expected, with a strong emphasis on staff service and effective working relationships with staff and outside vendors.



Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associate Degree or equivalent coursework.

  • Three years broad experience in one or more of the technical support areas outlined in this description.

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to pass a background check through the Minnesota DHS.
