Park Avenue Center provides evidence based gender specific drug and alcohol treatment in south Minneapolis, Minnesota. First established in 1979, Park Avenue Center is a community-based program that proudly serves Minnesota’s less fortunate individuals in beautiful settings. Using evidence-based best practices, we have maintained a reputation for the highest quality of services at extremely low rates. Clients we serve typically struggle with multiple barriers including mental illness, homelessness, financial problems, legal issues, and an overall lack of emotional support. Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, our staff includes Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors, Licensed Psychologists, Registered Nurses, and a consulting Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who is qualified to prescribe medications. Our robust Mental Health Team allows us to help clients address their various needs. We take pride in the quality of our services and the magnificent environment we have created. Job Description

Medication Observers assist clients wtih getting their medications throughout the course of the day. Important qualities: great client service, detail oriented, solid computer skills, very organized.

Training and certification will be paid for and provided to the selected candidate.

1. Responsible for supervised self-administration of medications program for clients in the co-occurring disorders program.
2. Record and provide detailed description of medications taken by clients in the electronic health records system.
3. Maintains regular communication with Supervising RN and Primary Counselors regarding client’s failure to take medications as prescribed, if medication levels are running low, or if there are any medical concerns regarding the client.
4. Work closely with the selected pharmacies ensuring clients have medical coverage and accurately determining client’s co-payment amounts.
5. Conduct intakes and fulfill periodic tasks such as answering the phone and the front door, lecturing, setting up group rooms, making coffee, and cleaning up the coffee area, and transport clients.
6. Must have knowledge of and comply with client rights, outlined in part 4747.1500 and of staff responsibilities.
7. May not admit, transfer, or discharge clients but they may be responsible for the delivery of treatment services.
8. Maintain professional relationship with clients while following a code of ethics.

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. At the time of hiring, must be free of chemical use problems for at least the one year immediately preceding and sign a statement attesting to that fact.

3.Must meet the Staff Training requirements in the Park Avenue Center’s Observation of Self-Administration of Medications policy.

4.Must be able to maintain positive public relations with the community at large.

5.Must have a valid Minnesota Driver’s License.

6.Must possess good verbal skills and present positive professional image.

7.Must pass a background check.

Additional Information

This is a part-time position working up to 29 hours per week. We are looking for availability from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 7am-1pm on weekends.
