Job Description

Position Summary: 

The Data Solutions Engineer (DSE) serves as lead technical planner and designer for future data center strategy for the life project. This position, in supporting the sales efforts, will create deliverables by gathering high-value, Cloud –based, networking solutions at multiple levels. Highly developed organizational and people skills are a must as you will be establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with large, high profile accounts. The DSE is required to display strong knowledge in a number of technologies, communicating technology concepts with customers, partners, sales and fellow employees. 


Essential Responsibilities:

• Articulate, demonstrate and provide the technology to meet customer needs and requirements

• Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the sales cycle to drive opportunities and help onboard customers

• Assist the sales team in closing business 

• Develop and deliver messaging, presentations and demonstrations of the Data Center Solution platform and products

• Knowledge and understanding of technical components and infrastructure contained in data center

a. this includes:

i. Server Hardware Systems

ii. Operating systems

iii. Virtualization – VMWare -OpenStack

iv. Storage

v. Back-up and recovery

vi. LAN and WAN Network architecture

vii. Facilities – racking, cooling etc.

Viii. Application functionality

ix. Disaster recovery / Business Continuity

• Knowledge about servers and application, with ability to plan migrations out of the CAB

• Knowledge about key support systems, i.e. AD, Firewalls and the ability to plan their migration


Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of IP routing & switching, Broadband, ISDN PRI, Hosted PBX, and Virtual Fax

• Strong knowledge of Data Center architectures, security, and data center certifications

• Strong knowledge of SIP

• Strong knowledge in virtualization technology, VMWare, Hyper -V, Xen, and KVM

• Strong knowledge of LAN Switching & cabling

• Plans & coordinates product programs, for maximum sales volume and profitability.

• Attend weekly product staff meetings to ensure focus of product needs, knowledge sharing and training

• Skill in soliciting input and participation

• Skill in project management, planning, organization, and implementation

• Strong business skills

• Strong analytical skills

• Decision making and problem solving skills


Education and/or Experience Requirements:

• College degree, preferably B.S. in Computer Science, Networking or Electrical Engineering

• Practical work-related experience, preferably on multi-vendor network platforms and technologies

• VOIP/Soft switch experience for a Telecommunications Service Provider

• 5+ years working in an Ethernet Based Network Environment 

• Voice and data and telecommunication systems and cabling

• In depth understanding of internal and external DNS technologies

• Experience with Database Design and Programming

• Experience with Network Sniffer Technologies and Capture Tools

Certifications: 

Candidates with any of the following certifications will be given stronger consideration. 

• Cisco certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, etc.)

• Certified information Systems Security Professional (CSSP)

• Professional Training/Certifications on Layer 2 Switching and Layer 3 Routing

• MS-SQL Server 7.0/2000

• MS-Exchange 2000

• CompTIA certification: A+, Network+, I-NET+, Server+, Linux+

• RHCSA - RHOS

• Linux Professional Institute Certification

• HIPAA Security

• VMWare Professional Certification strongly preferred ( VCA & VCP)
