“Team Primary’s” History

In the middle of 2009, the banking enviroment was full of turmoil. Many of our group worked for a large federaly chartered bank. Each day we watched the stock rise and fall with service levels diminishing as moral went out the window. We would meet with our staff asking what they wanted to do, but everyone was reluctant to make a change at the time. It was decided we would identify a new home so we did some research and began watching a young company out of Utah others we had known referred us to. The final straw came when our employer centralized operations leaving our staff without local support and directing us to make the move to our new home. We invited all of our staff and hopped on a plan and headed to Salt Lake City, Utah, for us, this is how it all began.

Over the past several years we have taken the already robust Primary business model and expanded upon it with our own flavor putting a large emphasis on local quality, continuous improvement and truly building a team that will stand the test of time. As you will read and view on this site, we are far from your ordinary mortgage company, and are proud of it.

 

Our Corporate History

Millions of American’s dream of owning a home, raising a family, and even running their own business. Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc. knows a little bit about those dreams.

We opened our doors for business back in 1998. Operating out of a small executive suite with a handful of employees, our first year we closed 321 mortgages for $35 million. Like many entrepreneurs just starting out, we weren’t sure where the road would lead, but we were passionate about our work.

Fast-forward 12 years later:

  • Primary Residential Mortgage now has a nationwide family of employees numbering 1800 strong.
  • Since 2001, our average annual volume is nearly $5 billion.
  • Our home, our corporate office, is located in Salt Lake City, Utah, and employs more than 200 local team members.
  • We have more than 275 branches across the country.
  • We are licensed to do business in 48 states.

Lead by one of the company’s founders, President and CEO David Zitting, our excitement for financing homes hasn’t diminished. And in spite of the fantastic growth we’ve experienced, we haven’t forgotten where we came from. We believe in being small even though we’ve gotten big and hold fast to the principle of keeping a personalized approach to business, making sure our borrowers get a customized mortgage experience.
