Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant

Team: Finance

Reports To: Assistant Controller

Location:  This position will split time between our Hayward, CA and Redwood City, CA offices.

The Senior Cost Accountant is a critical finance and accounting role supporting Proteus’s Operations. This role is primarily responsible for performing all functions of the standard cost system and providing analysis of item costing and inventory transactions, comparing actual costs to estimates, identifying reasons for variances and supporting the budgeting and forecasting process for manufacturing and distribution. This role may also be responsible for performing ad hoc projects, including providing financial analysis to evaluate special projects, programs, and products costing when necessary. Lead in developing and verifying data relevant to cost accounting and margin analysis. But it doesn’t end there. Here’s a summary of this great opportunity:

Job Description

  • Manage day-to-day inventory and cost accounting in Oracle, including preparation of related journal entries
  • Review and maintain standard costs, including labor and overhead rates
  • Review and maintain yields, touch times and costing routes in Oracle
  • Perform period-end inventory module close in Oracle
  • Perform period-end inventory reconciliations
  • Perform period-end cost of goods sold analysis and reconciliations
  • Prepare period-end inventory reporting package, including inventory valuation and trends, E&O requirements, inventory turns calculations and cycle count reviews
  • Participate in periodic cycle count audits
  • Work with Operations on inventory transactions and costing exercises
  • Assist with SOX 404 and business process documentations
  • Provide quarter-end and year-end audit support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong inventory management experience in a medical device environment preferred
  • Oracle EBS 12i or other large ERP experience preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including knowledge of Excel with ability to use pivot tables
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills along with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with small, cross-functional teams
