Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic, detailed oriented Senior Technical Accountant or Manager to join our growing team remotely.

The ideal candidate is familiar with SEC reporting on Forms 10-K and 10-Q, US GAAP and technical accounting subjects, such as revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensations, debt and equity accounting, property plant & equipment, acquisitions, going concern and impairments.

Reporting directly to the Technical Accounting and Reporting Manager, this hands-on role will have the opportunity to manage month/year-end close processes, external audits, internal controls compliance, as well as system implementations and process improvements.

The ideal candidate is eager to take on increasing responsibilities and enjoys working for a fast-paced, newly public company in Silicon Valley. You will play a lead role on the Corporate Controller’s team, responsible for the accounting and reporting of significant accounting transactions, special projects, and SEC reporting.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Work cross-functionally with other groups to foresee potential accounting issues and recommend practical solutions associated with contemplated business transactions
  • Monitor business activities, ensure timely identification of accounting and financial reporting matters and prepare high quality accounting memorandums for senior management and auditors
  • Analyze new and proposed accounting standards and determine the impact on PubMatic and implement new accounting standards, as required
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements
  • Provide flux analysis of company balance sheet and income statements
  • Assist with SOX compliance efforts to ensure appropriate processes and controls are in place
  • Assist with year-end financial audit and quarterly review reporting packages
  • Be a subject matter expert on technical accounting and manage adoption of new accounting guidance, assessing impact on overall consolidated financial statements
  • Train and mentor team members
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications

  • 5 > 8 years of total accounting experience, with increasing levels of responsibilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Active CPA license
  • Solid understanding of GAAP accounting concepts
  • Experience in ASC 606 (revenue recognition) and ASC 842 (lease accounting), stock-based compensation (ASC 718) and earnings per share (ASC 260)
  • Highly developed technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations) and research skills.
  • A hands-on approach and strong attention to details
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel - you should enjoy spreadsheets
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment - we’re recently public and growing rapidly; this requires strong multi-tasking skills and the flexibility to quickly switch from one project to the next
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in MS Office and NetSuite.
  • Big 4 or other public accounting experience
