Summary

This is a part-time position (20 hours/week) responsible for providing customer service to prospective students and current students as well as administrative support to the director of admissions and the Dean for the Hayworth School of Graduating & Continuing Studies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for Withers House, including support for the director of admissions and the Dean of the Hayworth School
  • Provide front office response to Hayworth undergraduate and graduate students by welcoming the students, determining their need(s) and directing them to an appropriate response
  • Coordinate and ensure timely, accurate completion of routine projects
  •  Cover front desk and phone for Hayworth School of Graduate & Continuing Studies

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications Required

  • Prior administrative support experience, preferably in an academic environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint; advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel required; proficiency with Microsoft Access preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and experience interacting well with multiple constituencies (faculty, staff, students, public)
  • Proven attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up / follow-through skills to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize projects and meet given deadlines 
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and education

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation)

  • Eye-Hand Coordination: Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, copier, calculator and other office equipment.
  • Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Repetitive Motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Physical Strength: Will regularly be required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools and controls reach with hands and arms. Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  • Work in office environments, involving contact with faculty, staff, students, parents, service providers and vendors
  • Work has deadlines, interruptions, and may be stressful at times.
