Job Description
The Webby-winning Fashion & Beauty site Refinery29 is looking for a not-so-ordinary Senior Beauty Editor to join our fast-paced, rapidly growing Editorial team. Our star candidate has a voice and perspective that can cut through all the internet noise to deliver sharp and inspiring takes on the industry's most compelling emerging ideas and stories. She/he possesses a healthy addiction to all things beauty, skincare, and underground trends/breaking news, as well as fashion, digital media, and an obsessive knowledge of the beauty industry.
She/he is equally passionate about how, for the millennial minded woman, beauty intersects with nutrition, health, fitness, and pop culture. A strong stable of close contacts including brands, doctors, makeup artists, hairstylists, and wellness experts is a must. A loyal and expanding social following is also a major plus. The candidate of our dreams will have a solid sensibility for sourcing and curating the most surprising market discoveries and an innate ability to identify emerging beauty brands, shifting trends, and innovators who inform the expanding R29 Beauty content strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conceive and produce exceptional beauty concepts: Identify and generate fresh engaging stories not just daily, but hourly. Write a minimum of 2-3 stories per day, both features and quick posts, as well as help conceive larger fresh franchise ideas, which will continue to frame and elevate the R29 Beauty brand.
Plan, pitch, and edit beauty posts: Help manage and execute all aspects of the daily beauty schedule and oversee 2-4 original photo shoots per month.
Participate in video production: Coordinate with the video team to conceptualize and execute inspiring and informational beauty videos, sourcing the coolest and most noteworthy talent to participate, as well.
Represent Refinery29: Be the face of our brand in the beauty market, host desk sides and larger meetings to forge strong relationships with key brands and image makers.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years in publishing or digital media, with a focus on beauty and editing
- Exceptional writing skills
- Experience with video production; comfortable on camera
- Experience working with social media and a strong social media following
- Experience with HTML and Photoshop
- Must be highly organized, team-oriented, responsive, and comfortable collaborating, but also able to work independently
