Job Description

Joining the R29 social team is the perfect opportunity for a data-driven, creatively minded person looking to be on the cutting edge of social media, branding, and audience development. 

The ideal candidate is fluent in all things traffic, but knows the difference between click-bait and truly groundbreaking, eye-catching, can't-not-click social media copy. An ability to marry voice and vision with metrics and steep goals is key, and maintaining that vision during times of pressure is what will help this ideal candidate thrive. The person in this role is a keystone between the many moving parts of R29 that have a stake in social, and in addition to managing a team of three, they will communicate regularly with the social media director, the marketing team, and various editors across the board — so INCREDIBLE communication skills are a must! 
The social media editor should know key platforms like Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter like the back of their hand, but also have a finger on the pulse of emerging networks and a penchant for early adoption. And, most importantly: A passion for all things editorial and the ability to write killer headlines in your sleep. 
Responsibilities
  • Meet daily and monthly traffic goals across social channels
  • Quickly provide on-the-fly strategies to address low traffic 
  • Manage social team's daily duties and ensure all posts are optimized 
  • Execute posting and strategy on emerging platforms 
  • Author a monthly report on progress and updates on new social platforms 
  • Attend relevant events and conferences in the social space
  • Be the public face of R29 social on the east coast 
  • Assist marketing team with reports for weekly meetings on social traffic, engagement, and progress to monthly goals

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in social media 
  • Proven ability to manage a team 
  • Familiarity with basic analytics and platforms like Google Analytics, Chartbeat, Simple Reach, and Visual Revenue
