Job Description

Under the direction of the Evidence Management Supervisor, maintains, stores and releases property and exhibits for the Regina Police Service.

(1)        Assists in receiving, issuing, storing and recording of all property in an accurate manner, that comes under the jurisdiction of the Evidence Management Supervisor, including the storage and security of DNA evidence, seized drugs, money and jewellery, found articles, bicycles, etc.

(2)        Assists in receiving, handling, issuing and record keeping of special issue items (e.g., handcuffs, pepper spray, safety vests, etc.), issued to the members of the Regina Police Service.

(3)        Assists in the administration of seized and towed vehicles placed in the police compound and the sale through public auction and disposition of other property.

(4)        Assists in purchasing, storing and distributing stationery store supplies.

(5)        Deals with public for the release of property, exhibits, cars, bikes, etc.

(6)        Maintains property and inventory ledgers, issues articles upon authorization and checks incoming supplies for shortages and damages.

(7)        Operates police service vehicles to retrieve found property and bicycles, etc.

(8)           Assist in forwarding correspondence related to found, recovered and seized property.

(9)           Other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

(1)        Good knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal Laws as it relates to exhibits and Regina Police Service Policy and Procedures for the release of property and exhibits.

(2)        Sound decision making and the ability to assess situations, select from alternatives and make sound, reasonable decisions.

(3)        Minimum Grade XII or Grade XII equivalent with basic knowledge of police information systems and minimum typing speed of 50 w.p.m.

(4)       The ability to deal with general public in a friendly, efficient and professional manner.

(5)       Must possess the physical strength, mobility and flexibility to perform the duties of the position.

(6)       The ability to demonstrate attentiveness, meticulousness and exactness to detail particularly in high volume work situations.

(7)       Experience with Windows functionality and MS Office.  Experience with inventory systems an asset.

(8)       Must possess valid Class 5 Novice 1 (minimum) drivers’ license.
