Job Description

  • Works with a team of Java development, design and implement planned and unplanned products in support of strategic business and IT initiatives
  • Make high-level design decisions and identifies technical risks
  • Participates in peer review sessions throughout design and development phases for multiple projects at any given time
  • Lead architecture activities for multiple projects with competing deadlines. Provide technical knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor. Will influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations
  • Create and maintain software architecture documentation, UMLs as necessary to document and secure design. Work with other Architects and Technical Leads to collect artifacts to feed standards and validate application architecture.
  •  Experience with resilient and redundant designs including Disaster Recovery plans and processes.
  • Analyze and enhance existing architecture to improve performance.
  • Interface with Systems Administrator to implement required systems to support software architecture.
  • Evaluate technical and operational feasibility of solutions.
  • Ensure the software is configured for quality, performance and conformance to Business requirements.
  • Review programmer designs for compliance with our standard design patterns, performance and security.
  • Lead the overall architecture of cross-functional, multi-platform applications systems.
  • Assists Quality Assurance engineers in issue identification, isolation, and remediation issues during formal QA cycles
  • Continuously improves, refines, and refactors software
  • Participates in the resolution of challenging and demanding problems across a number of technical topographies
  • Ongoing product support and maintenance

Qualifications

Formal Education & Certification:
  • BS in Computer Science

 Knowledge & Experience:

  • 10+ years of Java enterprise programming.
  • Understands, articulates, and conforms to core OOP principles
  • Understands, utilizes, and leverages core Java architecture
  • At least eight years of web-based development experience
  • At least eight years of enterprise-scale J2EE design and implementation, Spring Core (Dependency Injection, AOP, JDBC), Spring MVC, JUnit, Mockito, EhCache, JSPs, Servlet, Apache, Tomcat, SOAP, Rest, JSON, DWR, XML, SQL, and Linux.
  • Experience with industry standard design patterns (Gang of Four [GOF], J2EE, Enterprise Integration Architecture) and web services (WSDL, SOAP, REST, etc.)
  • A commitment to developing solid, tested, performance software
  • Comfortable offering input across requirements phases and distilling the product into fine-grained deliverables
  • Excellent problem solving skills and troubleshooting skills. Must be able to quickly assess problems and determine proper steps to resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Ability to work well with a wide variety of people with varying technical skill sets and business knowledge is required.
  • Experience working within/constructing service oriented architectures is a plus
  • Experience with running Tomcat & Apache in a clustered production environment
  • Experience with FatWire Content Management System (Assets Model, Templates, Realtime publishing, Workflows, Attribute Editors, Flex Filters, Listeners, URL assemblers and SEO concepts) is plus
