Job Description
We are looking for an engineer with steel production experience relating to Geostructural Products.
The Geostructural Product Engineer supports the Product Manager in the definition of the breadth of the product offering and recommendations for areas of improvement and growth. The position is key to developing the product and manufacturing specifications and quality control for new and existing products. The Product Engineer supports technical training initiatives across the Product Specialists in addition to providing the Sales Team with technical support. Responsible for project management functions including time and cost estimates, designs, prototypes and testing programs. The Product Engineer also serves as a liaison between the Geostructural Team and Internal Sales Personnel or Skyline Steel and the customer, establishing stronger customer relationships and developing a steady flow of order inquiries
Duties of the Geostructural Engineer:
Geo structural related Product Development
Design and improve engineered products working with the product manager and the design team.
Maintain and upgrade existing products.
Support marketing with product design, drawing creations and new product entries.
Analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product development
Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design
Directs and coordinates manufacturing or fabrication of products and systems
Confers with research and other outsourced engineering companies and prepares design modifications as required.
Uses CAD software to create and modify mechanical drawings and perform design tasks.
Quality Assurance
Plans and develops test programs
Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
Development and maintain existing and future technical files.
Commercial Support
Ability to read project plans, details and specifications and perform material estimates.
Technical report writing
Create project schedules
Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
Assists in capital project evaluations.
Operations Support
Develops new and improved tooling and equipment for manufacturing and fabrication
Interfaces with manufacturers, suppliers and fabricators for product and system design and production.
Assist in the development of product and manufacturing specifications, quality control and quality assurance for new and existing products.
Supports operations in multiple facilities.
Experience:
Knowledge of GeoStructural products, applications and industry
Background in steel production and fabrication a plus
Experience in engineered systems and procedures
Knowledge and capable user of computer based engineering design systems and MS Office software.
Excellent team work skills with home office, operation centers and outside sales offices.
Excellent spoken and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Good consulting and problem solving skills
Able to work well with tight deadlines and tough technical challenges
Bottom Line Requirements:
