Job Description

Our ideal candidate is a strong writer who's obsessed with grammar, spelling, and punctuation; has a close eye for detail; is extremely organized; and excels in a fast-paced environment. The type of person who can articulate the reasons for when to use AP vs Chicago style and why it fits a certain client.

We need someone to keep our copywriters in check and be responsible for overseeing consistency of our style and copyediting/proofreading our copy in our client's annual catalog as well as item-level product descriptions used online. The person in this role will need to organize and coordinate between the merchandising managers, marketing team, and copywriters as needed.

We also need this person to be able to stay on top of updated assets and review them to ensure that edits have been correctly implemented and no new errors have been introduced.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree

• A strong work ethic, with strong independent copy editing skills

• Excellent communicator and strong attention to detail

• A superior understanding of the established roles of grammar, punctuation, and style

• Familiarity with major style guides (knows the difference between AP and Chicago) is required

• Comfort in a fast-paced, collaborative creative environment

• Experience writing tight and clean copy and able to adapt to different tones and sensibilities

• Knowledge of restaurant/fashion apparel terminology a MAJOR plus

• Writing for web media experience also a major plus (but not as major as that last one above!)
