Job Description

Position Summary:

Rowan Cabarrus Community College is seeking a Computer Integrated Machining instructor with a passion for teaching, learning and student success. RCCC CIM graduates serve the needs of local and regional engineering, technology, manufacturing and processing facilities.

The faculty member should possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills and experience in establishing and growing industry partnerships. In addition, the faculty member should have experience working with learners from diverse academic, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi.
2. Submitting requests through the program chair for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
3. Assist with counseling and registering students.
4. Submitting course grades and performing other administrative duties as required.
5. Scheduling five office hours per week.
6. Maintain contact with industry, including conducting effective Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) meetings and/or partnering with industry in ways to promote student learning and career placement, ensuring that the department stays current with professional and workforce needs;
7. Support the program chair by ensuring department is up to date with current industry standards and practices;
8. Participate in the creation and revision of courses, the renewal of curriculum, and the currency and relevance of the program.
9. Establish and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all equipment
10. Develop and maintain appropriate lab equipment and environment for training, including Safety Data Sheets and the ability for students to interpret them.


Required Education/Experience Skills:

Education: Associate Degree in Machining or related field from an accredited institution.

Experience: Minimum of five years as a machinist.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the following areas:
CNC and manual machining systems and practices

• Quality control systems including AS9100

• Quality control systems as they apply to inspection/calibration techniques

• GD&T and the inspection process.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

Bachelor degree in engineering or technology field related to Machining disciplines

Five years of teaching/training experience in a machining program at a community/technical college, or in a corporate technical training setting within a manufacturing or processing plant.

Preferred knowledge and experience include:
• National Institute for Metal Working Skills (NIMS), Master Cam, or other industry certificates

• Experience with AutoCad & Solidworks

• Teaching experience in CNC and Master CAM
