Job Description

As the Global VP for plant and metallurgy services, reporting to SGS's EVP Mineral services, you will develop and implement a global growth strategy for SGS's metallurgical and plant services business unit, targeting new business opportunities in existing or new markets. To be successful you will identify new service products to cater to evolving client demands and requirements, create the required service portfolio, establish relevant contacts with potential technology partners/strategic alliance partners to accelerate SGS's entry into new service segments and develop a commercial partnership strategy. It will be essential that you establish strong communication channels with key stakeholders of major mining group to leverage the existing integrated services portfolio of SGS's plant and metallurgy services. Finally, you should remain close to SGS metallurgical sites to ensure that Metallurgical services are being delivered at the high comprehensive level, expected from a global service provider.

More specifically you will:

  • Develop and communicate global strategies to the metallurgical senior management based in SGS affiliate sites
  • Conduct and maintain continuous market analysis to determine customer needs, understand pricing,evaluate trends and understand new business opportunities
  • Estimate demands for proposed projects based on market research and customer trend and work with affiliates to ensure SGS is well positioned to meet the demands
  • Provide technical guidance for major RFQ`s and support affiliates and global management in dealing with negotiations, bids, contract development acquisitions and budgeting
  • Analyze the financial impact of sales of products and services to new and existing customers
  • Support marketing campaigns and promotions
  • Monitor the competition’s product development and activities
  • Participate in the annual budget planning process

We would expect you have to acquired skillset thanks to the following:

  • Degree in Metallurgy/Engineering or related 
  • Business management qualification
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Global Business Development /Global Business Management roles with successful track record 
  • Experience in the minerals and mining related field
  • Experience working in highly complex matrix organisations

Additional Information

While this position is advertised as being based in Canada, we would consider hiring the right person anywhere in Europe, Latin America of North America. Remote working is possible.

This position requires global travel up to 40-50% of the time.
