Job Description

  • Sorting and logging of client samples
  • Preliminary sample preparation (compositing, drying, grinding, dockage, splitting, homogenization, labelling)
  • Daily monitoring of refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
  • Organizing refrigerators and freezers.
  • Defrosting of freezers, cleaning of refrigerators, water baths, N-Evap, dusting of computers, benches, etc.
  • Cleaning fumehoods with support of technicians
  • Ensuring proper archiving, returning, disposal of samples as per company policies and documentation of disposal date.
  • Archive documents and maintain a log.
  • Calibration of balances, pipettes, auto pipettors, syringes, etc, as per company guidelines. 
  • Washing glassware, cleaning and maintaining work area as necessary.
  • Assist in updating MSDS and Certificate of Analysis binders.
  • Disposal of waste solvents.
  • Neutralization of acidic and basic waste for disposal as required.
  • Salinization of glass wool and liners as applicable.
  • Assist in maintaining standards inventory.
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Assist laboratory technicians as required
  • Perform assigned laboratory techniques according to written procedures
  • Minor maintenance or repair of equipment
  • Conduct other minor laboratory duties that may be assigned.
  • Complying to all Quality procedures and policies, and reporting discrepancies to Operations Manager
  • Follow all company health, safety and environmental policies

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) is required. Post secondary education (degree and/or diploma) in a Science related program (Chemistry, Biochemistry) is a strong asset.  
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting is a strong asset
  • Minimum High school graduation
  • Must be comfortable with numerals in order to monitor data on a computer screen.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
