Job Description

This job will be located at MCAS Cherry Point, NC.  SSE is seeking EA-6B Pilot and Aircrew Subject Matter Experts (SME) to assist in the design, revision, and maintenance of Computer-Based Training (CBT); Instructor-Led Training (ILT) and supporting lecture material, and flight/simulator briefing documents at MCAS Cherry Point.  This position is contingent upon contract award. The anticipated start date is February 1, 2014.

The SME provides aviation expertise and high-level subject matter proficiency for work described in the SOW and advanced technical knowledge and analysis of the highly specialized operational environment.

 

The SME responsibilities shall include the following:

  • Review curriculum, assess, and recommend improvements to the training program via the appropriate training management officials.
  • Attend required scheduled meetings/training (e.g., scheduling, standardization, phase head, safety systems working groups, Intelligence Updates, aircraft systems and weapons tactics briefings and conferences).
  • Update, modify, and maintain currency of curriculum to support platform specific training. Assess training, syllabus, and mission scenarios, to ensure courseware and training documents reflect current tactics, techniques, and procedures as defined in the NITP, Joint Doctrine, and Marine Corps War-fighting Publications, and are the most effective means of execution.  Make recommendations for improvements to the Government.
  • Provide analysis of existing testing instruments and recommend changes to improve training baseline and measure proficiency of training objectives.
  • Review syllabi and recommend changes to the lessons based on NATOPS changes, engineering changes, tactics, and evolving mission areas changes.
  • Revise and maintain simulator scenarios. This shall include updating the orders of battle, flight paths, enemy and friendly reactions, threat platforms, time lines, and Integrated Air Defense Systems.
  • Revise and maintain console instructor guides in support of the EA-6 training.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
Degree BA/BS  required. MA/MS or PhD a plus.

Required Experience: 

The SME shall have a minimum of five years of combined experience in USN/USMC tactical aviation and instructional systems. Courseware development or sustainment experience is preferred. The aircrew and Pilot SMEs minimum qualifications shall include:

  • NATOPS qualifications and minimum of three years flight experience and 1,000 flight/simulator hours in the specific T/M/S, or six years of flight experience in predecessor T/M/S or closely related T/M/S and 1,500 hours total flight/simulator time.
  • Must have flown or instructed with NATOPS qualification within the last five years or worked in related aviation instructional content in the last two years.
  • For the EA-6 SMEs, must have qualifications as stated above or six years of flight experience in predecessor  T/M/S or closely related TIM/Sand  1,200 hours total flight/simulator time.  Must have been previous Section Lead or Mission Commander, or similar tactical qualifications and previous FRS instructor or EW Tactics Officer (EWTO)/ Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI).
