Job Description

In addition to performing routine accounting functions, the Controller will support the development and implementation of a comprehensive, scalable and efficient financial accounting function that supports the Company’s business objectives.  This will involve the development of new processes and the systems needed to support them. The right candidate will have the requisite experience to lead this effort in partnership with the Company’s leadership team, a willingness to immerse oneself in the detail, a desire to work closely with management and staff to facilitate business operations improvements through the effective use of financial and operating metrics, and the initiative to pursue whatever opportunities come through the door.  This position provides opportunities for significant career growth in conjunction with the ongoing expansion of our business.

  • Assume responsibility for all accounting tasks related to the maintenance of the general ledger and financial statements, such as:
  • Maintain proper and timely processing of all accounting transaction activity (payment processing, cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, etc.)
  • Oversee billing and collection functions
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements monthly and follow up on discrepancies and outstanding items 
  • Process expense reimbursement requests
  • Oversee bi-monthly third-party payroll processing functions, including provision of data to payroll processing vendor, payroll timing and accuracy, PTO and other accruals, payroll tax reporting and payment, and recording of journal entries
  • Interface with HR to resolve any payroll and/or benefits administration issues
  • Complete monthly accounting cycle close procedures 
  • Prepare financial statements (profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow statement, etc.) 
  • Analyze financial performance against budget, conduct variance analysis and research/report on material variances
    • Establish, maintain and ensure compliance with appropriate accounting policies, procedures and financial controls
    • Lead fiscal year end audit and tax return preparation and support external auditors
    • Provide data, analyses and support to leadership team for ongoing business process assessments, expense management and business expansion efforts
    • Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts in cooperation with operating managers and the leadership team
    • Assist operating managers and leadership team with their understanding of financial reports and provide supplemental information/reports to facilitate their responsibilities
    • Provide administrative leadership for financial accounting function
    • Recruit and hire accounting team members 


  • 3-5 total years of progressive work experience in accounting or a related discipline, with at least 2 years in a similar accounting leadership role
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • QuickBooks experience and proficiency
  • A passion for identifying and pursuing opportunities to improve financial and business operations in collaboration with peers
  • Management or team leader experience

Additional Information


Bonus Points For: 

  • Prior experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or similar position with a healthcare services company
  • Experience working with and/or implementing an enterprise financial accounting system
  • Experience developing and implementing comprehensive policies, procedures and financial controls for accounting and related functions
