Product Engineer – Design – Airbag System

Farmington Hills, MI

Position Type: Salaried Full-Time

Unit: Engineering - Electronics

Job Description               

  • Lead hardware design engineer responsible for design, validation and implementation of an airbag system 
  • Lead technical reviews, trouble shooting, and system related communication with customer.
  • Work closely with global team to ensure product development and launch per schedule
  • Perform worst case analysis and DFMEA testing
  • Customer requirements management in Doors database.
  • Support global design team and manufacturing team with engineering questions to ensure safe launch of product.
  • Capable of leading cross functional team of ME, EE, SW, Systems, ECAD, MCAD and Design Validation team members to meet Automotive customer milestones and requirements
  • Effective communication skills working directly with Japanese Automotive OEM customers
  • Broad understanding of Japanese OEM development milestones, advanced quality planning, and PPAP requirements
  • Program management experience considered a plus
  • Work in matrix organization and global team

Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • 3 + years of experience in engineering applications *Knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture
  • Knowledge of Doors database preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ECU design relating to electronics and software

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • MBA and/or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
