Job Description

Sacred Heart Schools is seeking a Primary School Physical Education and Health Teacher, whose chief responsibility will be to work within the scope of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education to teach Kindergarten through second grade physical education within a differentiated group of students. As a member of the Primary School faculty, this instructor will collaborate with the Head of the Primary School, grade level teams, division, and departmental teams.

Essential Job Functions:

• The Physical Education and Health Instructor will work within the scope of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education to teach students in kindergarten through second grade the physical education curriculum and students in grade two the health curriculum.  

• The Physical Education and Health Instructor will serve as the coordinator of Kindergarten recess, responsible for daily supervision of the playground, enforcement of the rules, and communication with parents about recess incidents.

• As a member of the Primary School faculty, this teacher will be responsible for:

• Instructing physical education for grades kindergarten, first and second grade students

• Curriculum formation and evaluation

• Student assessment

• Working as an active and collaborative member of grade teams and other primary faculty members

• Maintain current with the most recent primary physical education pedagogy

• Align with other physical education instructor in the other divisions - Lower School, and Middle School for vertical curriculum coordination.

• Parent communication and education concerning their students performance and progress  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Elementary - Early Childhood Education

• 2-5 years of experience teaching physical education.

• Demonstration of effective behavior management skills

• Demonstration of parent communications skills


Preferred Qualifications:  

• Masters Degree preferred. 

• Experience teaching primary grades

• Experience teaching physical education and health
