Founded in Chicago in 1876, Sacred Heart Schools at Sheridan Road (Hardey Preparatory for Boys and Academy of the Sacred Heart for Girls) are independent, Catholic, single-gender elementary schools committed to academic excellence within the context of a Christian, faith-based community.  The educational mission is deeply rooted in the 200-year tradition of the Society of the Sacred Heart and shared with the Network of Sacred Heart Schools located in 30 countries, including 22 schools in the United States.  The essence of this tradition is the total development of each child: spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical. Our girls and boys are taught in single-gender classrooms, but follow a similar curriculum and share in many activities.  With a total enrollment of approximately 700 students, the schools are organized into three academic divisions each led by a division head.

Job Description

The role of the Program Assistant - Student Life encompasses many responsibilities that are administered out of the Sacred Heart Schools Student Life Department. This position demands a high level of attention to detail for every aspect of the essential job functions and other responsibilities. This role also provides necessary support to members of the Academic Team and to the Student Life events that occur during the course of the school year. 


Essential Job Functions:

• Special Events

Provide program support (Set up, Supplies, and Logistics) for:

  •  Red and White Induction
  •  Hotdog Lunch
  • Justice Day
  • Congé
  • Gallery Night
  • Spirit Weeks  


• Student Life and Athletic Activities

Provide program support (Set up, Supplies, Logistics, and Supervision of students) for:

  • Student Council
  • After School and Athletic Program 
  • Middle School Socials
  • Yearbook 
  • Literary Magazine
  • Book Challenge 


• Department Communications

  •  Keep student life website pages up to date

• Head of Student Life Support

  • Office Assistance

 Copying

 Proofreading

 Purchasing


Qualifications

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree required.

• 3-5 years of Administrative Assistance experience

• Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint

• Excellent character

• Excellent attendance

• Multi-task skills

• Organizational skills

• Ability to work in a team setting and independently

• Ability to work with all people

• Flexible

• Responsible

• Office machine knowledge

• Dealing well with the public, parents, students, co-workers

• Ability to manage confidential information
