Job Description

Details of the Role -

Role of an Operations engineer. Join a small team who are running cloud based Internet services for some of the largest mobile operators and content providers in the world. Job may include opportunities to work remotely, though you must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area. Assume a critical role maintaining availability, performance, capacity and security of our platforms. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience and have held increasingly responsible roles building large, reliable, scalable high-availability implementations. Additionally, he/she will also have a desire to take on diverse challenges and learn new technologies.



- Design, implement and manage server and network infrastructure

- Contribute to high availability, large capacity strategies and technology selections

- Work closely with local and remote software engineering teams to help denitrify and remediate production issues

- Automation of common tasks, system provisioning and software deployments across multiple clusters

- Develop software tools to solve systems, operations, and engineering problems

- Pro-actively monitor systems and applications for high profile web properties

- Execute systems maintenance within constraints of published SLAs

- Share 24x7 on-call duties

- Role may require some overtime and evening work hours to collaborate with team members located in multiple geographies



- Must have prior large-scale Internet service operations experience

- Expert Linux/UNIX systems administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, and automation

- Expert Apache, Tomcat and other web container/server administration

- Experience building and maintaining data center network infrastructure, requires deep understanding of the Layer 2 through Layer 7 stack

- Experience performing analysis and debugging of complex software systems

- Solid knowledge of SQL database administration (setup, best practices, troubleshooting)

- Software development (Perl, PHP, Python, etc.), advanced scripting, source control systems

- Some exposure to NoSQL technologies desired - Expertise in tools and techniques for real time monitoring and instrumentation

- Security OPSEC and third-party compliance

- Extensive knowledge of industry best practices, including ITIL

- Detail orientated project management skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects/bugs/tasks

- Think creatively and work independently

Position can be held as full time or contracting based on candidate preference.
