Job Description
This position reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for supporting and advising the piping contractor and the construction management team. The RFI Lead will provide support on Mechanical and Piping and perform required red lines and as builts related to the project from Owner’s perspective.
The Piping Designer will be expected to be onsite and interface with other members of the project management team. The Piping Designer will work with the project management team to address on-going issues, to draw up and approve redlines in addition to providing updated drawings to engineering and the commissioning manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review Mechanical and Piping Scope of Work packages to ensure close supervision, create CADD designs/drawings from Engineering and Design sketches, mark-ups, go-bys and verbal instruction. Coordinate with other discipline designers to ensure verbally received information is communicated and clearly understood.
- Provide support to projects for 2D drawing deliverables
- Perform reviews of completed deliverables completed by others.
- Perform Piping Design Coordinator activities ,field walk down survey of facilities to
- document equipment arrangement, tie-in locations and P&IDs.
- Upkeep and maintaining a list of remaining design activities and criteria to support
- completion of his/her drafting assignment and team from Global resources an
- internal team of (2-4) others.
- Develop deliverables in a consistent manor that are accurate, legible and convey the
- design intent.
- Support Piping Design Coordinator and Project Management in presentations to
- project team to support Piping Drafting progress.
Qualifications
- 2 year Associates degree or Technical School - Drafting and Design preferred but not required.
- High school diploma and 5+ years experience in the construction industry, with 3+ years working in an EPC/Owner's representative environment for large capital projects on oil/gas, chemical, or heavy industrial construction projects.
- Professional knowledge of ANSI, ASME, API and CSA Design Codes.
- Pipe stress analysis experience.
- Strong working skills and experience in process piping design & drafting; mechanical structural, equipment layout, piping plans, isometric details and material take-off in the Petrochemical and Oil & Gas industry.
- Strong practical experience of As-Built & quality control / assurance documentations.
- Knowledge of construction software like Blue Beam, Navisworks, Primavera, Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace ) and piping stress analysis.
- Strong working skill with with REBIS AutoPlant 3D Ceasar II, CadWorx Plant 3D 2018 and SmartPlant 3D modeling; IsoGen drawing creation and Navisworks Model Design Review.
- Excellent working skills with ProCAD Suite & MicroStation V8 & SE (2D Drafting & 3D
- Modeling).
