Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

The Business Intelligence Systems Developer is responsible for contributing to the development, test, maintenance, and enhancement of all Business Intelligence (BI) related systems including:

• Data modeling (ERWIN)
• Enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Marts (Teradata)
• ETL/ELT processing (multiple ETL/ELT tools with Teradata, Informix, DB2, etc.)
• Reporting/Dashboards/Data Visualization/Mobile Applications (Qlik, MicroStrategy, SAS, etc.)


ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS


 • Create, maintain, and improve the technical foundation and operations of all BI-related systems

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in all aspects of BI and analytics projects, including conceptualization, design, construction, testing, selection, deployment, and post-implementation support
• Interface with different departments within the organization regarding new deployments
• Research/analyze data processing functions, methods, and procedures
• Troubleshoot production and development system support issues and resolve them
• Translate and explain complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a wide variety of audiences
• Other duties as assigned relating to the data warehouse via database, Business Intelligence, Business Analytics, Database, and ETL tools.
• Complete all problem tickets to within agreed service levels
• Resolve inbound incident tickets for assigned application within agreed service levels
• Execute and complete change requests to agreed service levels and SDLC process
• Must fully document all work in the corporate help desk system
• Liaise with end users as required to provide guidance, prescribe corrective measures to resolve incidents, and to define enhancements
• Develop functional design specifications and work with technical team to develop technical specifications
• Ability to multi-task and work productively with a minimum supervision

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Exceptionally skilled with written and verbal communications in English
• Extensive skills in Linux, experienced and highly accomplished in shell scripting
• Highly skilled in translating business needs into requirements, specifications, and technical solutions
• Extensive experience with relational and dimensional modeling
• Advanced skills in SQL and with multiple BI/analytic toolsets is required
• Advanced skills with multiple ETL/ELT tools and ETL/ELT design is required
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent project management skills
• Proven leadership/management skills
• Proven ability to synthesize data into useable information
• Creative, flexible, and willing to adapt to a changing environment
• Sound business skills including exposure to operations and finance
• Experience with data visualization is a plus


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 10 years DW/SQL/BI/Analytics and shell Scripting experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with ETL/ELT design using multiple ETL/ELT toolsets
• Have a successful history in designing and developing end-to-end BI/analytics solutions
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Information Systems is desired
• A Master's degree is preferred
• Applicants without a related degree must also have no less than 15 years of experience as an IT professional
• Prior hands on experience in designing and developing reports and ad-hoc queries using Business Intelligence tools
