Smart Coos is an educational community that provides language immersion opportunities for newborns to 8 year olds (and their parents) in order to achieve multilingualism and to close the word gap. The site helps bring native and non-native language acquisition resources to parents for their infants and toddlers, help parents develop and maintain the native and non-native language through infant-directed-speech “motherese,” and provide a community for parents to support and maintain the development of the native and non-native language for their infant and toddlers.

Responsibilities will include:


• Maintain currently existing Drupal site and web-based tools.
• Update and enhance existing site and tools with newly requested functionalities. 

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
• A driven and creative Developer Intern may also be given the opportunity to create and implement custom Drupal modules, extend existing modules in order to fit specific client sites, and deliver compelling UI designs/layouts that adhere to client technical specifications & branding, W3C usability standards, and 508-compliance requirements.

 

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BS/MS degree and an interest in pursuing a career in Web Development.


• The ideal Drupal Web Developer will have knowledge of Front End Web Development, Drupal CMS, HTML, and CSS. High attention to detail, efficient, and able to work at a fast pace while producing great work. 

Experience with PHP/MySQL and administration of PHP/MySQL, CMS-driven sites. Drupal development/programming experience.


• Experience with JavaScript, HTML/XHTML, CSS and AJAX, Git-based workflows, and command-line tools such as Drush.


• Experience with Microsoft Office products, photoshop and/or other visual-based design tools.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

 

Additional Information

We are seeking an intern that can work independently. The position will require a 10 – 15 hr. per week commitment. This is an unpaid internship. Students from any state within the United States are encouraged to apply. Duration : [Jan. 15 - May 15]
