Job Description

SoapBox has grown over 300% in the last two years and is continuing to experience tremendous growth. Our team has worked with an external accounting team to date and we have out grown their ability to manage our inventory, AR/AP, commissions, P&L projections for specific customers, and various other tasks. Our team is looking for someone who wants a challenge everyday, leadership, enormous amounts of responsibility, and an individual who wants to make a difference for those who need it most. 

The Controller will be responsible for overall function of the accounting department. Compiling financial information, processing journal entries into various accounts, and reconciliation of reports and financial data will all be key responsibilities. Knowledge of the laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function are required to ensure compliance are a must. The Controller would work alongside the CEO in projecting financial performance, cash flows, and other reports for investors and the board. This individual would be a crucial component to our team and daily operations. 

This is not a normal jobSoapBox is a fast growing startup that has distribution in Target, CVS, Whole Foods, and various other retail accounts across the country. Our team doesn't require that you work 60-80 hour work weeks, but every member of our team does due to the amount of work that needs to be done. We are a goofy bunch that love to have fun, and we have moved mountains much faster than the rest of the industry has expected because we love what we do

Qualifications

  • BA degree required with Accounting degree preferred. CPA or CMA a plus but not required.

  • 3-7 years leading project teams or organizations.

  • Broad industry experience with a preference for Consumer Packaged Goods. 

  • Excellent organizational, follow-through, and self-starting skills. Ability to grow with SoapBox and eventually manage and lead the accounting department, including interns. 

  • Advanced Excel skills required, including pivot tables,advanced functions, etc.

  • Comfortable with providing information to management to identify issues that impact financial results, both positively and negatively. 

  • Ability to develop internal controls and ensure compliance with divisional accounting policy and procedures. 

  • Experience with reconciliation and accuracy of physical inventories, so that book inventory value is properly stated. 

  • Experience developing budget/forecast for overhead spending, COGS, marketing, and various other business functions.  

  • Ability to calculate monthly commissions for sales brokers based off distributor and independent sales data. 

  • Experience with EDI and ERP systems.
