Job Title:  Systems Operations Manager

Job Description:

Responsible for all aspects of the daily operations regarding the Sys-Ops Server Team. This includes but is not limited to all Windows Hardware and OS support as well as Microsoft core technologies.  Fosters a collaborative environment amongst team members and seeks to develop positive relationship with other infrastructure departments. Directs and supervises the activities of the Systems Operations Server technicians and ensures timely completion of all projects, maintenance, and incident resolution.  Increases operational efficiencies through process improvement and the adoption of new uses of technology. Develops project plans for the implementation of new initiatives. Manages vendors and drives infrastructure partners to meet or exceed contracted SLA’s.

Required Skills:

This is a Supervisory role with a “hands-on” requirement for demonstrated technical proficiency. Responsible for oversight of staff  to ensure operational stability of the MS Server environment, including the performance, maintenance, and assurance of high availability. Responsible  for new hires, terminations, disciplinary write-ups, goal setting, reviews and merit assessments. Responds to advanced level systems support activities, providing assistance to any IT operations staff members regardless of team association, providing assistance in achieving resolution to any problems and issues. Responsible for ensuring that assigned operations staff, are keeping all monitoring tools configured appropriately.  All tools should be validated for performing designated functions, and insuring alerts are working so that response to events is correctly coordinated without exception. Responsible for purchase requisition creation, procurement, and management of critical inventory to insure replacement of failed infrastructure components necessary to meet organizational needs. Consistently demonstrates ability to quickly respond to any incident/problem with timely resolution, through research , detailed troubleshooting techniques and with management of assigned staff. Communicates effectively, often, and clearly, concerning any and all projects and/or production impacting initiatives and incidents. 


Desired Skills:

  • 5-10 years of  MS Server support experience in a large organization.  Knowledge of healthcare operations preferred. 
  • Organized, self-starter.  Must be able to work independently.
  • Understand and apply project management principles
  • Proficient with MS Operating Systems on several different hardware platforms
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities.
  • Provide courteous and effective customer service.
  • Manages vendor relationships
  • Perform duties and interaction with others in a professional manner
