POSITION DESCRIPTION


TITLE: Network/Desktop Support Technician

SUPERVISOR: IT Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Objective

To manage and maintain Company information systems, networks, website and reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day to day support of local and remote client computers, including installation and configuring of software, troubleshooting software and OS errors, security audits related to the local pc, maintaining printers, image builds, and laptop repairs.

• Configuration of new laptops, desktops, and VoIP phones.

• Assist with the management of client computer software updates through our help desk software.

• Assist the network administrator with servers and network issues, including DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory.

• Must be willing to learn new skills quickly. Must be able to learn the necessary steps to bring back the network or servers when they go down and learn quick steps for disaster recovery.

• Assist with network wiring from switches to client pc’s and phones. In addition assist in new wiring which will require climbing a ladder over 15ft.

  • Ability to take on varying tasks simultaneously and the ability to multitask.

  • Ability to follow through on all tasks. • Flexibility in work schedule as well as punctuality necessary.

• This job requires constant movement to visit users in different parts of the buildings and floors.

Requirements Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

• Ability to provide a high level of support with a customer first attitude.

• Ability to apply a high sense of urgency to all tasks.

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

• Ability to provide a high level of problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills.

• Proficiency in Network Administration and Network software.

• Proficiency in the use of all common Windows and Microsoft software programs.

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Highly motivated and persistent.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

• The job may require receiving phone calls during non-work hours to support users.

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• 1-2 years’ experience working in the IT Industry.

• 1-2 years’ experience providing user support in a Windows environment.

• 1-2 years’ experience hands on support fixing Desktops and Laptops.
