Splice Machine is one of the hottest startups in Big Data. With the only transactional RDBMS on Hadoop, Splice Machine is disrupting the traditional database market and moving Hadoop beyond analytics into real-time applications. 

The Senior Sales Engineer will provide pre sales technical support to our prospective customers throughout the sales process. You will utilize your strong technical, business savvy, and customer centric competencies to provide the highest level of business and technical consultations to the sales team and prospects. You will become acquainted with customers’ business requirements, technical needs, ecosystems, and history, enabling you to present targeted business solutions. 

Responsibilities:

• Support our sales team in designing and presenting solutions to meet customer requirements. 
  
• Present and articulate strengths, features, benefits, and competitive advantages of Splice Machine's revolutionary database technology.
• Execute the technical aspects of the sales strategy by developing appropriate solutions, conducting Proof of Concepts, and building ongoing technical relationships across complex enterprise account organizations.
• Travel as required, mostly in the West Coast. 

• 5 - 10 years of experience as a Sales Engineer or pre-sales technical consultant.
• Understanding of “Scale-Out” architectures, including differentiating between “Scale-Up” and distributed database architectures, while identifying the appropriate solution to recommend to customers. 
• Deep understanding in one or more of the following technology areas: RDBMS, Data Warehousing, Analytics, Business Intelligence, or Big Data Solutions.
• Experience in high performance very large databases. Mastery of performance tuning techniques including indexing, partitioning, and information lifecycle management. 
• Demonstrated record of strong customer-facing skills and ability to build and sustain ongoing customer relationships; ability to practice excellent customer service skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Preferred experience with any or all of the following; Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, Cloudera, MapR, HortonWorks, Cassandra, MongoDB, Teradata, and HBase.
• Preferred experience with storage technology and database integration. 
• BS in Computer Science or other technical major (MS a plus).
