Job Description

Square is seeking an experienced, highly motivated attorney to join our dynamic litigation team. You will be responsible for managing pre-litigation, litigation and alternative dispute resolution for a wide variety of disputes in state and federal courts as well as JAMS/AAA. In addition, you will have the opportunity to counsel business partners on managing risk and privacy issues.

You will:

  • Help guide litigation strategy (from discovery to resolution) in multiple practice areas and venues

  • Directly support arbitration matters

  • Manage outside counsel for larger matters

  • Support internal teams on issues of risk, compliance, and privacy

Qualifications

You have:

  • JD and are member of California bar

  • At least 7 years experience in litigation at top tier law firm, government, or in-house

  • In-depth legal knowledge in areas of class actions, commercial contracts, privacy and unfair competition

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with various groups, including engineers and risk and compliance teams

  • Flexibility and desire to grow as Square’s legal needs evolve and expand

  • Intellectually curious with a desire to increase your scope of responsibilities

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of close-knit counsel team
