Job Description

Finance & Strategy is responsible for improving strategic and financial decision-making across the company. We maintain the company’s operating models, analyze deals and capital allocation decisions, and think a lot about strategy. The Role:

The Global Business Finance & Strategy team is responsible for supporting the Business Team in all go-to-market efforts for Square, including International Expansion, Domestic Growth, Direct Sales, Account Management, Business Partnerships, Product Marketing, Corporate Marketing, and Retail Operations.

We are looking for a talented professional to lead a growing team of highly skilled analysts. The ideal candidate would have a strong foundational background in strategic planning and finance, complemented by leadership experience in a high growth financial technology company. Further, experience supporting sales (strategy, operations or go-to-market planning) and marketing efforts is highly desirable. They will have demonstrated the ability to recruit, build, and grow teams and set the pace for high performance. They will have also demonstrated influence with senior executives on major initiatives. The candidate will have significant experience in developing and monitoring comprehensive financial and operating plans. Lastly, it is critical for the successful candidate to have a strong grasp of corporate strategy, the ability to see the big picture and articulate how to achieve it effectively across the company. This person will report directly into Square’s head of Finance & Strategy.

You will:

  • Act as the primary business partner for our Head of Business
  • Lead all financial planning activities, including 3-year strategic plan, annual plan, and quarterly outlooks for the Business team
  • Develop and monitor KPIs for growth initiatives
  • Partner with our functional Business Leads to develop new go-to-market strategies and optimize current channels
  • Partner with our New Markets team to develop new international market entry strategies
  • Recruit and retain a world-class team
  • Drive key cross-functional initiatives for Square

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Marketing, or other relevant field of study; MBA is a plus
  • 10-12 years relevant experience
  • Financial Planning experience in a growth stage technology company
  • Direct people management experience of teams of at least 10 employees
  • A proven leader with the demonstrated ability to marshal resources and drive consensus at all levels within an organization
  • Proven ability to independently create, present, and implement ideas
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to think strategically and work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Consistent track record of success and career progression
  • A strong passion for furthering Square’s mission
