Job Description

The Deposits team is responsible for one of the core product experiences for almost every Square merchant: receiving money from their sales. We optimize the experience for merchants to link their bank accounts and receive funds on the next business day, build the rapidly growing instant deposit product for them to receive money the moment they need it, and create tools for them to understand and manage their cash flow. We are a full-stack product team: we improve and integrate with the money moving platform, and deliver product features on web, as well as in our iOS and Android apps.


As an Engineering Manager on the Deposits team, you will:

  • Scale the team, decisions about the technical direction while also directly contributing to technical work

  • Make pragmatic engineering decisions in a short amount of time

  • Help set a broad direction and vision, put together a strategy, and implement tactical approaches to delivery a seamless experience for our users

  • Participate in key technical and design discussions with technical leads across engineering teams while being a hands-on manager

  • Hire world class talent and provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members

  • Manage projects and deliver quantifiable results in a timely manner

Qualifications

You have:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical, working experience (7+ years preferred)

  • 1+ year(s) managing engineering teams or being a tech lead

  • Experience collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineering leaders

  • Excellent software engineering aptitude and the ability to provide technical mentorship and guidance

  • Current or recent hands-on coding expertise

  • Interest in working across multiple technical stacks
