Payments is Square’s core product, and within is the Deposits team. The Deposits team is focused on the core experience around moving money. Our features range from instantly depositing into a bank account to tracking the full history of a merchant’s funds. What we built:

• Instant Deposits, allow merchants to deposit their credit card sales immediately for a fee

• Scheduled Deposits, allow merchants to schedule instant deposits

• Deposit Reports, giving merchants the ability to see the history of their deposits

• Bank Account Linking, a seamless way for merchants to link their bank account

The product spans across web, iOS and Android. As our features expand we are looking to build a robust infrastructure to power them. Our product is primarily built atop an RPC-based SoA architecture. You will be instrumental in helping to design, direct and build the backend of the Deposits team.

You will:

• Design and build RPC services in an SoA Architecture using Java, MySQL, Protobuf

• Create and optimize the core payment product experiences using Java, MySQL, Ember.js

• Design, implement, and analyze A/B tests

• Build extensive, reliable support for product data logging and metrics

• Work closely with our product, engineering, analytics, and marketing teams

You have:

• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical, working experience (4+ years preferred)

• Been self-driven, open to collaboration and willing to grow as an engineer

• A strong sense of customer empathy and desire to influence the product direction

• Curiosity in numbers and metrics with a focus on measurable impact

Even better if you are experienced in:

• SoA Architecture and backend system design

• RESTful and/or RPC Services

• Google Protocol Buffers

• Cross-team and cross-functional collaboration

Technologies we use and teach:

• Java, Javascript, Protobuf, Ember.js, MySQL

• A/B test techniques and methodologies

• iOS or Android development
