Job Description
As an engineering manager on Square Capital, you will lead a world-class team of engineers responsible for designing, building, and owning the services and infrastructure that power our products. We build beautiful web applications and design highly available services that form complex distributed systems.

- Lead a world-class team of engineers, by hiring exceptional talent, coaching and developing your team, cultivating pragmatic engineering decision-making, and leveraging your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar
- Scale your team to 15+ engineers in the first year and form sub-teams to handle the demands of a fast growing product. Identify, hire, and mentor excellent first-line managers to lead these sub-teams.
- Help set broad direction and vision, influence product strategy, and establish practices to efficiently and effectively address customer needs
- Lead and participate in critical technical, design, and product discussions with leaders across our product, operations, and investor teams
- Own the success of your team's projects and deliver quantifiable results in a timely manner
Qualifications
You have:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical, working experience (10+ years preferred)
- 4+ year(s) managing engineering teams (some experience managing managers preferred)
- Experience collaborating with designers, product managers, and other engineering leaders
- Excellent software engineering aptitude and the ability to provide technical mentorship and guidance
- Interest in working full-stack, from optimizing database transactions to building distributed systems and frontend web applications.
