Job Description

Square's Paid Marketing Analyst is a hybrid of traditional jobs in data analytics, strategy & planning, and financial analysis. You will join our small, high-performing team of Marketing Analysts and support our international and emerging product paid marketing teams in tracking and optimizing our marketing spend across channels. You will build the foundational data infrastructure as needed, synthesize insights, and develop actionable strategies to scale our marketing investments.

You will:

  • Work closely with channel partners on marketing performance analysis to inform investment decisions on a daily basis

  • Define and report on key metrics for marketing performance and analyze trends over time

  • Perform deep dive analysis into specific channels to understand the conversion funnel and its underlying drivers and provide optimization recommendations

  • Build attribution models and ETLs to track marketing activity across channels against usage of various products and services

  • Work closely with multiple Square teams, including Marketing, Product, and Finance & Strategy

Qualifications

You have:

  • 4-6 years of experience working in finance, consulting, or data analytics

  • BA/BS degree, preferably in a technical field

  • Strong proficiency with Excel and SQL

  • Comfort working with large datasets and solving ambiguous problems

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong outcome-oriented mindset

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly when explaining technical matters to less technical co-workers

  • Self-starter and high degree of motivation to go above and beyond the task at hand

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, matrixed organization, with multiple stakeholders across time zones

Even better:

  • Experience with marketing attribution modeling

  • Experience with Hive / Vertica

  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Java, C++)

  • Experience with data visualization technology, such as Tableau

  • Experience with ETL development, including data ingestion & pipeline management

  • Familiarity with Linux/OS X command line, version control software (git), and general software development
