Marketing Specialist, Social Media

  • Full-time

Company Description

We believe everyone should be able to participate and thrive in the economy. So we’re building tools that make commerce easier and more accessible to all. We started with a little white credit card reader but haven’t stopped there. Our new reader helps our sellers accept chip cards and NFC payments, and our Cash app lets people pay each other back instantly. We’re empowering the independent electrician to send invoices, setting up the favorite food truck with a delivery option, helping the ice cream shop pay its employees, and giving the burgeoning coffee chain capital for a second, third, and fourth location. Let’s shorten the distance between having an idea and making a living from it. We’re here to help sellers of all sizes start, run, and grow their business—and helping them grow their business is good business for everyone.

Job Description

The Role:

The Square Content Marketing team works to acquire new Square sellers through self-service and lead generation campaigns and strategies. The Social Media team is responsible for creating content that preserves Square’s voice, building awareness and brand affinity through storytelling and information sharing on a variety of channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

In this role, you will manage Square’s day-to-day branded social media content—140 characters at a time. You’ll be on the front lines, collaborating with product teams and interacting with sellers by concepting, drafting, and publishing cross-channel social media content. You will also oversee Square’s weekly social media editorial calendar, our social community, seller content contributions, and be responsible for the continued refinement of Square’s voice on social.

About You:

You appreciate a perfectly used emoji. You live online, your phone is a semi-permanent fixture in your hand, and your biggest fear is a dead battery. You hustle and grind without ever saying hustle or grind. You’re clever, creative, dynamic, adaptive, and eager. You have strong feelings on the correct pronunciation of “GIF,” and always have one ready to go. You love when a great piece of content lands, and want to learn why something doesn’t. You have no patience for slow Wi-Fi, and absolutely hate typos. You can creatively and easily communicate complicated and unsexy product details for specific audiences. You already know your meme, are a pop culture junkie, and you absolutely know what color that dress was.

You Will:

  • Be @Square on social media—Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+ (really)
  • Manage Square’s cross-channels social media editorial calendar
  • Grow our community and engage with Square sellers on these channels
  • Manage internal teams, creating content for secondary social media channels
  • Report analytics regularly, helping drive quarterly goals and grow channel benchmarks
  • Concept larger campaigns and programs to engage our audiences and build our seller base
  • Break the Internet, but in an exciting, credit-card-processing sort of way

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 1-3 years experience in a related field
  • Experience in social media editorial and strategic digital marketing
  • A love of content production—this role will focus heavily on writing and social content development
  • An eye for detail, down to the last character, image crop, and line break
  • A creative approach
  • Experience with social media content management and analytics platforms
  • The ability to think strategically and develop content based on building product and/or educational narratives

Even Better:

  • Experience using design tools like Photoshop, InDesign, and/or Figma
  • Deep social analytics knowledge

Your Application Should Include:

  • Contact information
  • A description of yourself in a single tweet
  • Related links (website/portfolio, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)
