Job Description

We are looking for a strategic, creative and results-oriented leader to join our team to lead Growth & Retention Marketing. You will be responsible for driving Square’s business growth and customer retention by working cross-functionally with Product, Product Marketing, Content Marketing, Support, Account Management and Partnerships teams. This team leads growth and retention across all marketing channels including email, in-product, paid marketing and direct mail.

This is a senior role leading a 14+ person team including channel operations, growth marketers and designers. You are excited about the chance to build and grow an evolving organization and have extensive experience with marketing leadership.

You will:

  • Lead a team in the design and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns across Square’s existing seller base for all products.

  • Build a high performing team via hiring, training and coaching

  • Partner with business analytics and data science to generate insights and use them to make operations more intelligent.

  • Create an exciting future state for Growth & Retention marketing at Square and take steps to deliver on this plan.

  • Improve our marketing infrastructure (delivering email and in-product messaging, A/B testing, deploying dynamic creative, facilitating triggered marketing), streamline processes, and improve growth marketing competency to improve campaign effectiveness.

  • Be a thought leader for growth marketing at Square and use the latest techniques to build the user base and accelerate growth.

  • Collaborate with Product Marketing, Partnerships, Account Management and Acquisition Marketing teams to deliver on cross-functional strategies and plans.

Qualifications

You have:

  • 10+ years marketing experience, including a minimum of 7 years in a leadership role managing large teams.

  • Extensive experience across a variety of marketing channels including email, in-product, mobile and digital.

  • Attested ability using data and analytics to inform and influence decision-making.

  • Ability to attract, hire and develop top talent.

  • A hungry, infectious personality: we’re looking for someone determined and able to win.

  • A strong background in evaluating and deploying marketing automation tools a plus.

  • BA/BS degree required, MBA or advanced degree a plus.
