Print Production Designer

  • Full-time

Company Description

We believe everyone should be able to participate and thrive in the economy. So we’re building tools that make commerce easier and more accessible to all. We started with a little white credit card reader but haven’t stopped there. Our new reader helps our sellers accept chip cards and NFC payments, and our Cash app lets people pay each other back instantly. We’re empowering the independent electrician to send invoices, setting up the favorite food truck with a delivery option, helping the ice cream shop pay its employees, and giving the burgeoning coffee chain capital for a second, third, and fourth location. Let’s shorten the distance between having an idea and making a living from it. We’re here to help sellers of all sizes start, run, and grow their business—and helping them grow their business is good business for everyone.

Job Description

As a print production designer, you apply your creativity, your eye, and your technical skills to the challenge of building mechanicals and implementing design across a variety of Square’s print marketing channels. We work to build and name files that communicate to the next person down the line. We file our work as we go. You’ll collaborate with teammates across disciplines to clarify requirements, goals, expectations, and timelines. You’ll design new work within Square’s visual language.

You Will:

  • Prepare and deliver mechanicals for retail, collateral, direct mail, and other print communication channels.

  • Manage multiple versions of files, often with minor variations (copy tests, localization, etc.).

  • Manipulate placed pixel (Photoshop) and vector (Illustrator) graphics.

  • Juggle a mix of large and small projects, often with overlapping priority and urgency.

  • Build and maintain working files inside a collaborative file structure.

  • Share (and document) your knowledge and perspective with your peers.

  • Ship quickly. Find new efficiencies. Keep an eye on the small stuff. Make it work.

Qualifications

You Have:

  • Solid working experience building, editing and optimizing print mechanicals (InDesign, Illustrator) using CMYK and spot colors.

  • Specific experience preparing retail POP displays (or similar dimensional work incorporating complex dielines)

  • An ability to communicate clearly with peers and across disciplines.

  • A commitment to delivering great work.

Even Better:

  • Press check experience

  • Experience preparing pixel and vector graphics for web and other digital output (jpg, png, svg)
