Job Description

Square's Business Analyst is a hybrid of traditional jobs in strategy & planning, data analytics, and product marketing. You will need to synthesize insights through the vast amount of data captured by Square, and develop actionable strategies that will help grow our Sellers and their engagement with Square. You are expected to collaborate closely with key stakeholders and senior management, and deliverables will be in the form of driving execution on your strategic recommendations through project management.

The successful candidate will possess a passion for innovative analysis, processes that scale, and the wherewithal to develop findings and recommendations that transcend the numbers. Ideally, this person will have recently worked or interned at a top-tier management consultancy or acted in a similar capacity at another firm, and will feel comfortable interacting with senior management on a regular basis.

You will:

  • Develop & deliver performance analysis and program recommendations for marketers and senior executives

  • Create and productize analytics required to drive improvements in our business

  • Support ongoing analysis of business performance required to inform executive decisions on a daily basis

  • Drive the design and implementation of key Square’s scaled go-to-merchant engagement

  • Interact regularly with the stakeholders across all areas of the company

Qualifications

You Have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in an analytical discipline such as engineering, computer science, or economics

  • 2-3 years of work experience in consulting, finance, or product management is desired

  • Expert quantitative analysis and logical reasoning; experience using database (SQL) and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau) for analysis

  • Creativity in developing actionable analysis and recommendations

  • Self-starter and high degree of motivation to go above and beyond the task at hand

  • Ability to succeed in a collaborative, start-up environment

  • Nice to have: experience working with small businesses and experience growing a Web/SaaS business
