Job Description

Join the Customer Engagement team to help merchants grow their business by giving them tools to know, support, engage, and acquire their customers. Our current product suite includes CRM, loyalty and gifting, omni-channel marketing, feedback and messaging, etc. Square offers a seamless and simple solution that saves merchants time and provide a delightful experience to engage and reward their customers.

As an engineer on the Customer Engagement team you will...

  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and internal teams to understand customer needs

  • Own and develop meaningful, delightful merchant and customer facing features that help our merchants connect with, engage and reward their customers

  • Write concise, well-organized code and sensible tests

  • Be given opportunities to stretch yourself by learning new technologies and take on bigger responsibilities

Qualifications

You have...

  • 1+ years of experience developing production software

  • The ability to write JavaScript, both in its raw form and with common JS libraries (jQuery, Underscore, etc.)

  • Familiarity with popular JS-app frameworks (Ember, React, Vue.js, Angular, etc.)

  • Experience in testing your code (QUnit, Mocha, Jasmine, etc.)

  • Know how to tease out the right HTML and CSS (or Sass) for a given design

  • A strong sense of customer empathy and desire to influence the product direction

  • A deep desire to be challenged and continuously improve as an engineer and leader

  • A Computer Science or other technical degree


Bonus points if...

  • You have experience with or a desire to learn iOS or Android, Java, Golang or Ruby on Rails.

  • A/B test design, analysis or related tools
