Our hardware team started with a little white reader that enabled anyone to take credit cards with their phone or tablet. We now have a full product range of readers, Square Stand and our newest product Square Register. Square Register is an all in one, two screen device that our team designed and built from the ground up. On our hardware team we aim to build emotion evoking, highly usable products that help our customers start, run and grow their business.

Job Description

 As the Product Quality Lead for Square Hardware you will be responsible for ensuring we deliver a remarkable experience with our hardware products. You will be responsible for assessing the in-market performance of these products and identifying areas that we should improve. You will work with the product and technical teams to identify the most important product attributes to track (e.g., those that correspond to a great customer experience), build out the infrastructure to automate this tracking, and regularly surface top issues to be addressed. When issues or areas for improvement surface, you would be responsible for initial investigations and then managing the cross-functional effort to understand the issue and solve it.


You will:

  • Help ensure that we deliver a remarkable experience with our hardware products
  • Identify the most important product attributes / metrics to track
  • Set performance thresholds for product metrics
  • Identify any abnormal behavior and areas to improve
  • Actively monitor performance of new and existing products
  • Work cross-functionally to triage any product quality issues that come up

Qualifications

You have:

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in a product quality, product management or product analytics role at a consumer electronics company where you were responsible for understanding the in field product performance for a hardware product
  • BA/BS degree, preferably in a technical field
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with relational databases and SQL
  • Proven ability to lead cross functional efforts
