Job Description

As Square diversifies its product portfolio and customer base, the need for effective and focused messaging and coordinated cross-channel messaging is critical to the company’s sustained growth. The Copywriter ensures that the right message is delivered to the right customer through all channels. We’re looking for a writer to join our team and focus on Payments, the largest suite of products at Square. The ideal candidate has a blend of creativity, determination and a track record of strong cross-functional coordination. They should also posses exceptional communication skills and a bias towards action.


You will:

  • Collaborate with a talented group of product managers, marketers, and designers to create UX copy for mock ups

  • Compose messaging for in product copy, engagement emails, web pages, guides, presentations, sales, and community and support articles

  • Work with product marketers to manage copy across various channels for new and existing products

  • Create concepts that are extendable into larger marketing campaign


Qualifications

You have:

  • Two or more years experience in UX and marketing writing in an agency and/or in-house group.

  • Excellent grammatical, writing, and editorial skills—you take your English very seriously and sweat the small stuff

  • The ability to explain complicated products and processes in a simple way to both business owners and consumers

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle several projects at once

  • A positive attitude and a manageable ego—but the ability to stand up for your work when you really believe in it

  • An interest in working with data to make smart, hardworking creative deliverables

  • Creative flexibility—you can flex your writing and adjust your language based on your audience

  • A portfolio or writing samples to include with your resume and cover letter

  • Prior experience in fintech, lending, financial services, and/or a highly-regulated industry requiring legal and compliance reviews a plus.
