Copywriter (Contract)

  • Contract

Company Description

We started with a simple idea—that everyone should be able to accept credit and debit cards—and we’ve been rethinking buying and selling ever since. Square currently operates in 5 markets globally and this role is based in our London office.

Job Description

We’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented copywriter to support our marketing team in the UK. You will be responsible for producing copy to be used across a wide range of channels including our blog, email marketing and website. You’ll be able to both write to brief and come up with creative new ways to bring Square’s brand to life through the written word. You’ll be a skilled editor with an eye for a typo, and you’ll be comfortable giving concise and constructive feedback on copy.

Please note that this is a one-year fixed-term contract, working 2 - 3 days a week from our London office.

You will:

  • Support our marketing team on day-to-day copy production for our blogs, guides, third party content (such as partner marketing campaigns) and email campaigns

  • Build an in-depth knowledge of the Square brand and product offering

  • Be able to explain complicated concepts in simple, engaging language

  • Help us to develop our brand voice and tone for the UK

  • Work on ad hoc campaigns (including communications and partnerships team briefs) when required

  • Help manage production of our content, from brief through to publishing via our content management system

Qualifications

You have:

  • Extensive experience writing for a technology brand, preferably with some financial experience

  • Experience both writing and localising content for a UK audience

  • A good understanding of SEO and content marketing

  • Experience with HTML and markdown formatting

  • A broad portfolio of published work

  • Experience with multiple content management systems and workflows, including loading, formatting and publishing content

  • A self-starter attitude and high degree of motivation to go above and beyond the task at hand

  • 99 problems, but a typo ain’t one
