Job Description

Square Payroll is the easiest way for small businesses to pay their employees. Our customers love our product because it is well designed, easy to use, and integrated with the rest of their business operations. Our team members love working on Payroll because we’re a nimble, full stack team with a lot of passion to build a remarkable Payroll product and business.

We have aggressive growth goals and are looking for a Growth Manager to drive customer acquisition at scale, in a ROI-positive way. We are a small team and agility is important. We strive to focus resources on the highest return activities which could span product changes, content development, forging partnerships with other organizations, or launching marketing campaigns. You will be responsible for helping to design, manage, scale and measure the performance of these acquisition efforts. You’ll work with Payroll team members as well as partners in Square’s centralized marketing organization to drive this work.  The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, analytical mind, strategic vision and willingness to roll up his or her sleeves to get things done.

You will:

  • Develop and execute a growth strategy to acquire new employers using a wide range of tactics spanning product changes, partnerships, marketing campaigns, events, and/or something else entirely. You will constantly improve your approach based on rapid hypothesis generation, prioritization, experimentation, and analysis. Your goal is to find tactics that work, deploy them at scale, and keep hunting for new tactics.

  • Combine a data-driven approach with strong marketing instincts to identify and prioritize target audiences; then craft product positioning and messaging, develop marketing collateral, and test and optimize performance.

  • Drive acquisition across offline and online channels including Search, Paid Social, Display, Mobile, and Direct Mail. Allocate and manage a paid marketing budget to ensure spend is optimized across channels. Maintain and monitor reports, budget, campaign performance, ROI, LTV, and other performance metrics by channel and across our growth activities in aggregate.

  • Identify and build relationships with external partners to increase awareness of Square Payroll including trade associations, education platforms, small business advisors, and producers of events and tradeshows.

  • Become a deep expert in all things Payroll by learning about our product, developing a view of how we stack up against competitors, and constantly seeking insights about our current and prospective employers.

  • Work alongside colleagues in Payroll engineering, design, analytics, product management, operations, sales and marketing, as well as external agency partners.

Qualifications

You have:

  • Experience: 5+ years experience in tech marketing, strategy consulting, agency, or related fields
