Job Description

Square is looking for Business Development Representatives for our growing Sales team based in St. Louis. You will be responsible for educating and consulting merchants on the Square Platform to help them grow. Your extraordinary communication skills help you connect with customers by phone - quickly establishing trust and rapport.

As the first line of contact, you are able to understand the diverse business needs of our merchants. You are quick on your feet, tenacious, and possess grit to overcome objections. You will become an expert in the products and services that enables merchants to thrive with the Square ecosystem. You will use your convincing personality and passion for winning to raise the bar of success, documenting and tracking qualified opportunities to pass onto the Account Executive team. You will use a data-driven approach to outbound sales that incorporates prospecting, email communication, and calling 50 merchants per day.

You will:

  • Master the Square Platform capabilities and value to drive client conversations across a range of company sizes

  • Develop and qualify new business opportunities with merchants across the country

  • Prospect and identify key decision-makers for target up-market merchants and lay the foundation for a strong and long-lasting relationship with them

  • Create and run campaigns to generate new sales prospects

  • Lead in developing and circulating the set of best practices which are the foundation of our growing Sales team

  • Act as an outward-facing ambassador of Square’s beliefs, brand and products

  • Utilize cold calling to qualify leads and set up meetings between merchants and members of our Account Executive team

Qualifications

You have:

  • A BA/BS degree

  • 1-3 years of metrics based sales experience

  • 1-3 years in a qualifying or prospecting role required

  • 1-3 years of experience cold calling clients

  • A feedback-driven, positive attitude

  • A resilient and persuasive personality

  • Strong desire to partner with and assess key needs of potential merchants

  • Intellectual curiosity, grit and motivation

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • The ability to multi-task and consistently manage deadlines while maintaining attention to detail

  • The ability to quickly learn new systems and processes

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
